The one man in the world that isn’t talking about The Revenant is the man who wrote it. Thanks to his contract with the World Trade Organization, he’s not allowed to promote any project that would benefit him financially. So he can sell the books and cash the checks all day long but he can’t show up to the red carpet premier.
Usually when an author refuses to acknowledge a movie based on their work it’s because the adaptation misses the mark, but in this case it seems like the author is really upset that he can’t make it. Even his wife and kids went to the premier while the author, Michael Punke, was working.
