Krang!

We don’t talk about comic book movies! I swear. Okay – but just because this is about Krang.

Anyone that has seen the trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: Out of the Shadows has probably noticed that Rocksteady and Bebop make an appearance in this movie and look a lot like their cartoon counterparts. There is also a new Turtle Van that actually shoots manhole covers out of the grill just like the toy did. Supposedly the turtles themselves are even supposed to look more like turtles and less like weird alien blobs in shells, although it’s hard to see a difference in the trailer.

Fans on the Turtles also noticed that the big blocks flying around New York City in the trailer looked a lot like parts from that death-star-with-tread-tracks that Krang used to ride around in fueling speculation about his appearance in the movie. Well stop speculating! He is confirmed to make an appearance.

In a Rolling Stone interview, Michael Bay talks a lot about his upcoming 13 Hours – a movie about the attack on the American embassy in Benghazi – but he also mentions the upcoming Turtles movie. Specifically he has a short interaction with a visual-effects supervisor about bringing Krang to the big screen in live-action – something TMNT fans have never seen. The sticking point seems to be tentacles and a worry about it being too “monster-y”.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, I’m guessing that they’re going to try to stay as accurate to the cartoon as they can. He’s definitely going to just be a brain and they mention a “giant robot suit” but whether or not that robot suit looks like a giant baby in a bright red diaper or not is unknown.
